Vampire's Kiss

Despite thinking of myself as a card carrying member of the Nic Cage Appreciation Society, I've never really gone out of my way to catch this particular flick.

Part of that is down to the mainly negative reviews I'd previously come across but it's also due to the trailer never really doing it for me either. However, as an opportunity to catch a HD print of this movie recently presented itself I thought I might as well do my duty & hopefully end up being pleasantly surprised.

Have to say that I found this to be an incredibly schizophrenic movie, the first half of which pretty much plays out as a comedy but the second half contains what I'd describe as some rather nasty scenes which consequently made laughing at what had happened previously a rather uncomfortable experience.

It's also worth mentioning that even by his own, at times, outrageous standards Nic Cage's performance in this flick is really over the top and it was hard, unfortunately, to view it as anything other than pretentious. Although I'm glad that I made the effort to catch this horror flavoured black comedy I must admit that I'm not in any hurry to ever see it again.

Razorback Rating = Decent Enough

The why...

This blog represents an ongoing list of flicks watched by my good self. Every movie viewed will be awarded one of seven ratings ('Unmissable', 'Superb', 'Very Decent', 'Decent', 'Decent Enough', 'Watchable' & finally 'Worthless') and any flick that falls under one of the first three ratings categories will also be awarded 'Razorsharp' status (which means it's pretty much a 'must see' movie in my not so humble opinion).
