Law Abiding Citizen

I must admit that when this was originally released I had no real interest in seeing it (it just seemed to be a run of the mill action flick that had very little to differentiate it from dozens of other action movies) but recently I've been hearing some good things about this so I was pretty hopeful that watching it was going to turn out to be a positive experience.

The theme of this movie is actually quite similar to the likes of Se7en, wAz & Saw in the sense that the 'villain' is looking to educate, it's not enough that people suffer, there's also a desire to change the 'mindset' of their fellow man. Unfortunately, it must be said that 'Law Abiding Citizen' falls considerably short of the standards set by those three movies. This is mainly due to Gerard Butler's character (whose background kind of contradicts the events that occur at the beginning of the movie, additionally he also needed to be either blacker than black or whiter than white, falling somewhere in between just didn't work IMO) and an ending that really wimps out & wastes what was potentially a pretty decent concept.

Don't get me wrong though, overall this is still a decent enough action flavoured thriller but it really could (& should) have been soooooooooo much better had the makers of this movie had the strength to follow through on their original convictions.

Razorback Rating = Decent Enough

The why...

This blog represents an ongoing list of flicks watched by my good self. Every movie viewed will be awarded one of seven ratings ('Unmissable', 'Superb', 'Very Decent', 'Decent', 'Decent Enough', 'Watchable' & finally 'Worthless') and any flick that falls under one of the first three ratings categories will also be awarded 'Razorsharp' status (which means it's pretty much a 'must see' movie in my not so humble opinion).
