As previously stated, I'm not the world's biggest fan of Pixar flavoured movies but as this flick has received pretty much universally great reviews I thought that I should at least give it a go.
Perhaps this was a case of having my expectations raised a little too high or perhaps I watched this a little too soon after watching the superb WALL-E but I have to say that I found this movie to be quite disappointing and actually (lowers voice to a whisper) rather dull.
Yes, I liked the talking dogs & yes, some of the imagery was very well conceived but I thought everything else in this flick was exceedingly average and for the most part I felt that it moved along at a snail's pace. In addition to this, what occurs in the first ten minutes of this movie felt like an obvious & rather mechanical attempt to generate an emotional response from the viewer and I have to say that it didn't work on me in the slightest.
That said, I can understand why others love this movie & I can certainly appreciate the work that went into breathing life into all of the various characters contained within it but unfortunately for me this movie quite simply represents one of Pixar's weakest releases to date.
Razorback Rating = Decent Enough
