I have to say that Pixar's brand of movie making doesn't really fill me with enthusiasm, that's not to say that I haven't enjoyed some of their previous flicks, it's just that I don't really feel the same level of expectation that the average movie goer appears to experience every time they release a new animated adventure.
However, I must admit that this particular flick really was rather enjoyable and more than anything else that was down to just how well realised the central character actually was (I certainly found myself feeling incredibly sorry for this little robot that had been left all alone on our planet to carry out a truly mundane task that he (or should I say it) had no hope of completing). In addition to that, I thought that what had happened to remainder of the human population was actually quite inventive and served as a deliciously dark & cautionary tale of what could happen to us if we let ourselves get too dependent on the benefits of technology.
This really is a visually spectacular & immensely delightful movie that manages to well & truly pull on the heart strings and even if (like myself) this isn't your sort of thing then I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that every rule does in fact have it's exception.
