It should be said that I have very little time indeed for the works of Lewis Carroll...in fact to be perfectly frank I find them rather tedious so combining that with the, shall we say, 'mixed' reviews this movie has previously received it seemed rather unlikely that viewing it would turn out to be a positive experience. Imagine my surprise then finding out that there were in fact a few things about this flick that I actually thought were quite enjoyable and consequently I would be giving it something other than a 'worthless' rating.
First & foremost, I liked that it was actually a sequel to the book rather than just another adaptation and I also really liked how Alice, as a child, had misheard the name of the magical kingdom she previously visited. But apart from that and the visuals (which really were quite stunning) I have to say that there was very little else going on here that made any sort of impression on me.
I'm not really sure what's happened to Tim Burton in recent years but generally speaking he just seems to follow up one self indulgent movie with another and to be honest it's getting a little boring. I guess his flicks must still make a decent amount of profit for the studios otherwise they wouldn't continue to finance his productions but it really is a shame to see someone as talented as he is (or at least was) consistently underachieving.
Razorback Rating = Watchable
