Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones

Definitely think this flick represents a step up, in terms of quality, when compared with 'The Phantom Menace' but unfortunately it still has a few flaws, most of which centre around the character of Anakin Skywalker.

Although I was glad to see the back of Jake Lloyd I can't really say that Hayden Christensen was any less irritating. I certainly struggled to understand why Natalie Portman's Padme would show any interest in this petulant teenager which in turn made their final scenes together seem incredibly wooden & unrealistic.

However, apart from the above, everything else in this movie works pretty well IMO, the scope is far greater than that of the previous flick, there's an absolute ton of enjoyable & visually spectacular set pieces and the new characters, especially Count Dooku & Jango Fett, all fit rather nicely into the grand scheme of things.

As with 'The Phantom Menance', my most recent viewing of this movie was via a televised HD print and I can confirm it was real improvement on the first flick. Visually everything was so much sharper than before so I'll be surprised if anyone will be disappointed with the blu-ray when it's released later on this year.

The why...

This blog represents an ongoing list of flicks watched by my good self. Every movie viewed will be awarded one of seven ratings ('Unmissable', 'Superb', 'Very Decent', 'Decent', 'Decent Enough', 'Watchable' & finally 'Worthless') and any flick that falls under one of the first three ratings categories will also be awarded 'Razorsharp' status (which means it's pretty much a 'must see' movie in my not so humble opinion).
